My name is Brian Mullins, and I serve as the Pastor of Hobart Baptist Church. I have been here since October 2019. I love this role because being used by God to help people is an amazing privilege. As an Undershepherd who speaks the words of God to His people, I view the role of preacher/pastor as a sacred trust. It is the will of God that people be fed His word. I see it as a great privilege to be chosen by Him to that task.
I’ve been involved in ministry for 28 years. My background includes computer administration, and teaching. I was called by God to begin preaching in 2003. He sent me to Seminary in 2004, and I began pastoring in 2005. I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007 with a Master of Divinity, with Biblical Languages, and a Concentration in Education. I preach expository sermons, going verse by verse through books of the Bible. Occasionally I preach topics when appropriate, but the sermon is still expository, not my opinions. My preaching philosophy is, “If I don’t preach the Bible, then I have nothing of value to say.”
Outside of church, I have been married to my wife, Melisa, since 1982. We have one beautiful daughter, one fantastic son-in-law, and one happy grandson. In my free time I enjoy learning guitar, song writing, and wood working.
One verse of Scripture that encourages me is Romans 10:11 — “For the Scripture says, whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”

In my free time I enjoy playing music with various groups at senior facilities and jamming with friends and fellow musicians on Friday nights. My favorite thing to do is sharing the gospel through music—anywhere, anytime.
One verse of Scripture that encourages me is Luke 18:27 — “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

Over the years I have been the pianist for three congregations.

One verse of Scripture that encourages me is John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
